1. Beyond the Line

In my bachelor project Beyond the Line I explored the diagnosis of borderline personality disorder (BPD) in an open, intimate and alternative way. 
BPD is a diagnosis that is often misunderstood and stigmatized. The goal of this project has been to challenge these stereotypes and misconceptions by asking the question:

How can I as a designer use artist´s book as a medium to contribute to the understanding of BPD, in order to fight stigma and loneliness, through a visual and non-clinical lens?  

By using riso printing as a technique, I tried visualizing the states of mind and emotions that are hard to put into words. This, in combination with anonymous submissions from other people with BPD and BPD traits, resulted in an artists book.

I hope my project can contribute to increased understanding of the diagnosis, but also help with the loneliness of those who suffer from BPD and to inspire people to find new and alternative ways to communicate and understand themselves and others.
